Learning Shapes (Common and Advanced Shapes Worksheets) – Free Printable Download

Learning shapes is a very basic and rudimentary skill we want children to learn. It is the foundation to let children verbally describe objects and also draw the shapes with ease.

To help children in learning their shapes, today we are providing two worksheets – The Common Shapes Worksheet and The Advanced Shapes Worksheet.

The Common Shapes Worksheet

As the name suggests, this worksheet includes the most basic and common shapes like square, rectangle, circle, oval, triangle, and heart. This will help children in identifying these shapes and they can start drawing them too.

The Advanced Shapes Worksheet

This worksheet includes shapes that are slightly more complex but still can be grasped by the quick learner that your child is. In addition to the 6 shapes in the Basic Shapes Worksheet, it includes 10 more shapes.

Some activities that can help your child in learning shapes

  1. Recite the names of the shapes to your child. Then ask the child to point to a shape and say its name out loud.
  2. Use reference objects to show them the shapes in the real world – like a ring is a circle, window is rectangle, etc.
  3. Ask your child to draw the shapes and recite their names.
  4. Have your child mould the shapes in clay.
